Rent in advance
Besides paying a bond at the beginning of the tenancy, a tenant is required to pay the first two weeks’ rent. If two weeks’ rent is paid at the start of the tenancy, no rent is due until those two weeks have passed. You should be aware that you are required to pay your rent when it is due otherwise you can be breached for non payment of rent. It is recommended that you setup an automatic payment from your account to ensure your rent is paid on time. You should allow for the time it takes for the bank to process the transaction.
Besides a security bond and two weeks’ rent, the landlord cannot ask for any other money at the start of the tenancy.
